Although some of the ideas in the book are outdated, it is still a masterpiece

I finally finished watching the seven-part Foundation series intermittently. It's really a great work! Although the Seldon Plan was ultimately abandoned, the twists and turns and exciting stories related to the base are still deeply fascinating. I was originally reluctant to accept the model of Gaia, but after recently watching the news about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and seeing those inhumane and purgatory-like scenes, I felt that becoming Gaia might not be a bad choice. Although you may lose some of your independence and free will as an individual, at least humans will no longer kill each other and can live in peace and friendship. As for whether the Gaia Galaxy can sit back and relax once and for all after it is built, there is no need to worry too much. The entire universe will eventually perish anyway, and what does human beings mean compared to it?

The innovation of science and technology and civilization depends on the difference and initiative of individuals. The overall system of Gaia is deficient in this aspect; and independent individuals cause chaos and struggle due to differences, and inevitably produce conflicts and disputes. The two are two sides of the unity of contradictory opposites. From the perspective of philosophical dialectics, neither choice will be the only reasonable outcome. Perhaps it is more reasonable to focus on the unity of the overall galaxy civilization (similar to the laws of robots) and the coexistence of differences in individual galaxies. My favorite science fiction novel

Banking Empire: Making technology a religion is an incredible idea. No matter how large the empire is, it can never escape the laws of human society. I sometimes wonder, since humans already rule the galaxy, why no one wants to continue exploring the universe, knowing that human desires and imagination are unlimited.

The worldview is very pioneering and creative, and the psychological game is almost perfect. However, there are some shortcomings in the introduction of the setting of psychological control. The scientific explanation of this setting is relatively reluctant, and it is used many and crucially, giving readers a sense of setting of magical skills. But overall, it was great to have such imagination in that era, and the plot design is shocking, the characters are exquisitely portrayed, and the psychological game is rigorous and reasonable. It is really a must-read classic.
