[A tribute marking the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party]
In December 1937, Mr. George Rand, a member of the International Red Cross, provided humanitarian aid to Chinese civilians in Nanjing. His wife and daughter came to visit him, only to be caught up in the Nanjing Massacre. Louise Rand was killed by the Japanese army while protecting her younger daughter, Annie. Thirteen-year-old Annie survived, but the severe psychological trauma left her with serious PTSD and retrograde amnesia. She became short-tempered and volatile, and hostile toward everyone.
Annie was determined to avenge her mother and hated her father with all her heart, drawing mother and daughter into the ravages of war. Through a twist of fate, Annie joined the New Fourth Army. Her fiery temper and superb marksmanship earned her the nickname “Lioness Annie” from her comrades… Can she overcome her trauma? Can she let go of her hatred for her father? How will she grow? What future lies ahead of her?
My first reaction after reading this book was to put down all my thoughts, go out and bask in the sun, and feel the peace and tranquility of the moment. Although I still have many practical problems waiting to be solved, at this moment I just want to bask in the sun. Resistance against war and aggression amid internal and external troubles is an eternal theme of mankind. I believe that the aspirations of people all over the world are the same. Through this book, I learned for the first time that the New Fourth Army also had a children's team. At the age of eight, when he couldn't even wipe his nose clean, Yao'er had already put on a military uniform. Even the heroine Anne was only thirteen years old and had already raised a gun to attack the enemy. It turns out that there are so many foreign friends and so many Chinese people stepping onto the battlefield filled with smoke. How can I not shed tears at such a subject? In my opinion, the author's setting for Anne is very good. The red hair and amber eyes are easy to associate with the five-star red flag. Retrograde amnesia makes Anne unaware of herself, the past, and the future, and makes her look like the confused China at that time. Using the teasing way of our young people today, after watching the various "monsters" played by Annie and Lu Xiaolu in the early stage, they will definitely be labeled as "magic pills", but who can hold back tears after seeing the ending... I have read two works by the author, one is "Yun Qianyin" and the other is "Female Soldier Annie". The heroines of both works are very good at using "guns". Sui Yunxi comes from a spear family, while Annie is extremely talented and hits the target on the first try. Anne reminds me of Jiang Heng. Their inner driving force is hatred. Mo Ensheng reminds me of He Qianqiu. How could there be such a selfless and kind person? These two works really killed me. The person I love the most died in my arms. As a reader, I went crazy after reading it. The few words Mo En Sheng said to comfort Annie when he first appeared easily captured my heart. When you meet such a person, just propose on the spot without delaying for a second!
I really cried while watching, 😢 😢 😢 Why is there a war?!!! My poor motherland! Damn Japanese militarists!! Everyone in the book touched me deeply. As a liberal arts student, I really feel the same way! My dream is to be a soldier. I hope I can realize my dream and become an excellent soldier! I don't want to die in a man's gentle land, I want to die on a glorious battlefield!
History is so tragic that we in peaceful times are reluctant to recall or even mention it. But those pains really don't exist just because we don't want to mention them. The book is very good, but as someone who is used to reading lighthearted, humorous, and happy reunion novels, it really made me cry. It was too heavy-bearing and too painful, making me want to escape and reluctant to read similar books.
