Cut out several great historical moments that have great significance. The history of mankind is vast, and any moment is just a drop in the ocean, but some are like the flash of bright starlight, promoting the development of human society. In these moments, this book details the psychology and will of great men. Some of them succeeded and some failed. After reading it, I can better understand that when heaven is about to entrust a great responsibility to a person, he must first strain his mind, strain his muscles and bones, and starve his body.
A Jew, a European, a man who suffered from the war, spent his whole life wandering around. With his unique vision, he intercepted fragments of history and painted the dazzling stars of humanity with his magical brushstrokes. Either analyze his psychology, describe his behavior, or analyze his background, all of which are insightful, unique and impressive. Although the author committed suicide in the end to pay tribute to the motherland in his heart, he is still a shining star.
The writing is fluent and the translation is in place. It is a very good translation. I give thumbs up to the author and the translator. Please continue to work hard and come on.
The author's narration is very vivid and enthusiastic, and he describes the characters in many aspects, making them flesh-and-blood and full of emotions. In this book, Zweig once again demonstrates his unique ability and charm as the "King of Biography". Reading almost every chapter makes people feel a lot.
Zweig is like a bard, walking in the long river of history, telling the stories behind each of the shining stars from the perspective of a bystander. The translation is also very vivid, like drinking a bottle of "faithful and elegant" potion, which makes people immersed in the scene.
The story of the hero is worth reading carefully. The characters in it all shine brightly in the splendid historical galaxy. Make yourself think. The following quotes are from the book - When human stars shine, it is a collection of those great moments. In these moments, we see the infinite potential of humanity and the endless possibilities for the future. Only one genius emerges from among millions of people in a nation; millions of idle hours in the world pass by before a truly historic moment begins, a moment when human stars shine brightly. In this boundless universe, human beings are just an insignificant star. However, on this tiny star, there is a group of shining stars, and their light illuminates the path of human civilization. The eternal dream of a humane world fades into the mist of the distance. There are stars shining in the starry sky of history. In the vast history of human civilization, there once existed such a group of heroes. In the vast universe, dotted with stars, under the sky, human beings are small but great.
It's a pity that such a nice name is because the author himself is an old white man, and the plot almost always revolves around the old white man's story. It would be better to rename it "When the Stars Shine in Europe" or "When the European Stars Shine". Especially when it comes to the "love" between the 74-year-old Goethe and the 19-year-old girl, we don't know how much literati whitewashed it. In contrast, Goethe's son was strong for the inheritance but also seemed to be excusable. The book has a strong white-centered narrative tendency, and is suspected of tampering with history for the sake of the legendary and story-telling nature of the article. For example, in Chapter 2, Muhammad II captured Byzantium, over-exaggerating the importance of Kerkamon. In fact, the number of Byzantine troops was far less than the number of enemies, and it was only a matter of time before Byzantium was conquered. I have not read the original work, but thanks to the translator, the writing style of the whole book is very fluent and profound, and the translation teacher deserves a high score. The advantage is that Zweig himself has surging emotions for the great cause of mankind. He intercepts fourteen important historical moments that he considers and uses full emotions and passionate words to convey the views he agrees with. There is no doubt that Zweig was a supporter of humanitarianism, a confused person wandering between reality and ideals. When he shouted that fate favors the strong, his figure coincided with Nietzsche who clamored for the death of God and advocated the morality of the strong in history. Unfortunately, reality is not a legend, and the almighty Jesus is only a thin silhouette in the minds of ignorant believers. There has never been any savior. When the cruelty of reality breaks through idealism, it inevitably slides to the end of death.
This version is well translated, and there is an introduction before each chapter for readers to understand the historical background of the story and the lives of the characters.
Good luck! ! ! Although the teacher forced me to read (ૢ˃ꌂ˂⁎)
The writing style is very distinctive, and it combines biography and artistic works very well. I like it very much.
History happened in an instant, and the world changed! ! ! Sometimes insisting on ourselves may lead to different results. I hope we can have more faith in ourselves when faced with choices and doubts from others!
The dramatic brushstrokes enhance the epic feel of the work. This is not a rigorous historical document, but it must be a great literary work.
This book is great! Zweig is simply a master storyteller! Every historical moment was narrated so vividly by him, as if I had experienced it myself. I particularly liked the characters, whose courage and intelligence amazed me. The author's evaluation is also very pertinent, which gave me a deeper understanding of history. This book is like a window that allows me to see those shining moments in human history. Recommended to anyone interested in history!
Although Zweig's view of history makes supporters of the materialist view laugh out loud, the diction is beautiful, the language is delicate, and the plot is rich. If it is not viewed strictly as a history book, it is still very good. It is worth savoring the Western view of heroism, which is quite charming and has a certain dramatic color.
An insignificant moment may affect a person's life, the fate of a nation and the life and death of a country. This book focuses on fourteen geniuses who changed the destiny of history and fourteen actions that influenced human civilization. This book tells us that every action, every thought, and every thought can produce a butterfly effect and have a vital impact on future changes. We may not be able to notice it at the time, but as time goes by, we realize that everything is traceable and everything is destined.
Just like his name, this book records the great and glorious achievements in human history. Despite the tremendous difficulties, the will they represent is as bright and immortal as the stars! ! ! ! !
Wonderful, great hymn to humanity
As expected of Reader Culture Publishing, it's really great.
I believe this is one of the highest tributes to mankind when the stars shine
Why is this book rated so low?
A book I like very much
Conducive to forming a correct view of history and having a world perspective
One misstep will lead to eternal hatred, and it will be a hundred years since you look back.
After reading it, the author's writing is vivid and contagious. It's really good.
Remember the moment that happened in history
Excellent book, beautiful
A good book, worth recommending
History is great...
I want to see historical sketches on Chinese themes. Is there anyone who can write them?
Did anyone watch "When the Stars Shine" first and then watch the original work? [Laughter]
