Synopsis

In 662 AD (the second year of Longshuo in the Tang Dynasty), Tubo and the Tang Dynasty competed fiercely for the Western Region. The Western Turks attached themselves to Tubo several times, and Tubo captured the four towns of Anxi several times. In 698 AD (the first year of Tang Shengli), the Tang Dynasty and Tubo negotiated peace and delineated the Shenlong Boundary Treaty, and Tubo withdrew from the competition for the Western Regions. From 704 to 754 AD, when Qili Xiaozan was in power, another war broke out between the Tang Dynasty and Tubo over whether to abide by the Shenlong Realm Covenant. Tubo lost more than it won, and its expansion in the Western Regions made little progress. And this story happened in the thirteenth year of Tianbao, 754 AD.
