Zhou Xun, Mala, Pan Shuai, Huang Shan, and the rest have just started university. They are no different from other students: joking around during military training, celebrating birthdays, getting together for meals, and taking part in campus activities.
If they have one difference, it is that they are medical students, a tough bunch who can say things that most people would find shocking without batting an eye.
They grow up together. Along the way, Mala and Pan Shuai begin an on-again, off-again relationship. Then, during their senior-year internships, what they witness in the hospital gradually shows them the difference between the medical profession and the jobs they had dreamed of. Some choose to pursue further study, others change careers, and Zhou Xun gradually discovers what he truly wants...
