The Concubine Is Reborn, and the Tycoon Falls for Her While Pursuing His Wife

[Republican-era setting + angst before sweetness + winning back the wife + both leads are each other's first + devoted husband + sweet romance + period setting + warlord] Everyone thinks Jiang Yi is so clever that she’ll eventually become one of the Song family’s concubines. After all, Song Yunyi is so generous with her that all the young ladies from prominent families wish they could take her place as his gilded canary. But only Jiang Yi knows how cold Song Yunyi is. If she hadn’t gone to such lengths to please him, he might have thrown her out long ago.

She learns without warning that her wealthy patron is getting married, and that he’s dumping her. She falls into the river and dies. Reborn, Jiang Yi decides she won’t be a pitiful canary anymore. She’s going to make money, make money, make money, then kick Song Yunyi to the curb.

Song Yunyi calls off his wedding, throwing all of Shanghai into an uproar.

“I only want to marry you.”
