At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the emperor was fatuous and unprincipled. Cixi controlled the government. In 1911, the Wuchang Uprising brought down the Qing Dynasty with a gunshot. Li Hongzhang and Zeng Guofan's Westernization Movement were defeated by Japanese Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War fighter planes. Sun Yat-sen's leadership finally succeeded in establishing the Republic of China.
