The True Sutra of the Ancient Buddha

Buddha, if you give up your life and become a demon, how can you still be Buddha?

Immortal, if you bathe in blood and become a monster, what kind of immortal would you be?

Demon, if you lay down your butcher’s knife, can you still attain Buddhahood?

Monster, if you cast off your original nature, can you set foot on the path to immortality?

Good and evil, truth and falsehood, the mortal world and its countless lives: where does the Dao lie?

The ancient Buddha’s true scripture cultivates Buddhahood, yet makes one ancient.

Buddha and demon are separated by a single thought, like a leaf that blinds the eye.
