Lin Shu, a famous translator in the Republic of China, is known as the founder of modern Chinese literary circles. His translations use ancient Chinese, and all of them adopt the form of joint translation, that is, with the cooperation of other people's oral translation, "the sound has stopped when the ears are followed by the hands." With his excellent classical literacy, skillful expression skills and fluent writing style, he has formed a unique style, which is favored by Qian Zhongshu, Lu Xun, Zhou Zuoren and others, and is rated as better than the original work. This article is a detective novel, a study of the current translation of The Word in Scarlet, which is the opening story of Sherlock Holmes' detective case.

This book is wonderful! The cases in the story really opened my eyes. I felt like Watson, following Sherlock Holmes to solve the case. Moreover, Lin Shu's translation is really good, and his ancient Chinese skills make these stories more vivid and interesting. I especially like what he said in the preface, "Learning from ideals can inspire people's sanity." I feel that these novels are not only entertainment, but also make people think. But the title of the book is a bit strange and hard to understand. Overall, this book is worth reading and I recommend it to you!
