This is a good book, worth reading. After reading it, I feel that there is not much difference between human beings and immortals. Immortals are people who are carefree, immortal, and have magical powers. This book introduces the development of Taoism, from outer elixirs to inner elixirs, and how the ancients became immortals. Personally, I feel that being an immortal means reaching a certain level or making outstanding contributions, and being named an immortal by future generations. Many immortals are successful in getting promoted if they do well, but if they don't do well, they smash the statues and demolish the temples. It feels very hard. The early immortals were half-human and half-animal, and were transformed into human forms by later generations. From the early overseas search for immortals to the inland Futian Cave, a series of methods for becoming immortals were proposed. Although I feel that immortality does not exist after reading it, some Taoist thoughts are still worth learning in modern times.

Chinese people have simple beliefs and have gods and immortals who perform their respective duties purely out of necessity. Moreover, most of the down-to-earth land gods must be paired up to fit the perfect image!
