Reshaping the European Economy: an Economic Plan to Save the Eurozone

Today, Europe is in crisis, with economic stagnation, sluggish employment, rising inequality, and rampant populism. The United Kingdom is leaving the European Union, Germany and France, which are struggling to hold on, are teetering on street movements and immigration issues. Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain have even been dubbed the "European Pig Five". In order to find the root causes of Europe's economic problems and prescribe appropriate prescriptions, the "European Progress Research Foundation", an unofficial organization composed of politicians in the European Parliament, invited Professor Stiglitz, the Nobel Prize winner in economics, to take the lead in coordinating many scholars and policymakers to jointly draft a European economic reform plan. This set of plans is finally presented in the form of this easy-to-understand book, which not only includes policy conclusions, but also analyzes and deconstructs specific issues, and is rich in reflections on traditional economic concepts. As Ernst Stetter, Director General of the European Progressive Research Foundation, who wrote the preface to the book, pointed out that this book is different from a traditional economic think tank report, and more like "Reconstructing the Rules of the American Economy", it will receive the attention of the mass media. At the same time, he also expects more feedback from European policymakers who funded this project.
