In the third month of spring, a culinary contest in Yangzhou leaves the local cooking world on the brink of ruin. Their only hope is to find the long-lost “One-Cut Fresh,” missing for eight years, and recreate “Fireworks in the Third Month,” a renowned dish personally named and sealed by the Qianlong Emperor two hundred years ago. Only then can they turn the tide.
But little do they know, this is exactly what the mysterious knife-wielding stranger has painstakingly arranged!
In this final battle, with lives on the line, will “One-Cut Fresh” appear as hoped and save them from disaster? The legendary dish is tied to a century-old feud between the two great culinary families of the North and South...
The great taste must be light, and the high road must be simple. On the surface of the banquet, it is written about fighting vegetables, but secretly it is written about life. This article describes Huaiyang famous dishes and integrates Chinese history, culture and food culture into it. It is a rare good book. The readers are introduced to various delicacies such as three sets of duck, steamed anchovies, and Wensi tofu soup, and the food culture behind the delicacies is also explained. I really like this book. I have read the first one and this is the second one. The two books are related to each other. The author has put great care into it and I look forward to better works.
The great road must be simple, and the big taste must be light.
"Fireworks in March" was the key dish for chef "Yidao Xian" to win the appreciation of Qianlong. However, it took more than two hundred years for people to know what the legendary "Fireworks in March" was.
The full text is fluent, and the plot content is interlocking. While seeing various delicious dishes, the author also uses Jiang Shan's words to explain their origins and the implications behind them. Among them, the duel between the "King of a Hundred Fishes" can also see the different revenge and mood of the people who make dishes using puffer fish. It can be said that what we see is not only the food, but also the people and culture.
I really want to say that this book is worth reading, and the text is not long. It only takes one afternoon to read it. Not only will you learn about food, but you will also be able to appreciate characters and life through stories.
The big flavor must be light. Ordinary life
Chinese food culture has a long inheritance. The word "culture" is very well explained in the book, including the old streets and alleys of Yangzhou, the ordinary daily life of the people, street snacks, garden layouts, poems and poems, the origin of allusions, the writing style is delicate and fresh, and the classic dishes of Yangzhou are well-known from the selection of ingredients, cooking and evaluation. The characters are positive and vivid, making readers feel like they are there. The finishing touch comes at the climax - the big flavor must be light!
My rating of 10 points is the most wonderful description of a dish I have ever seen. But the most important thing is not the review of the dish, but the wisdom of life.
Beautiful, let me use the simplest words to describe it.
I finished reading it in one sitting. It was quite comfortable and beautiful.
A good book worth a closer look.
A good book that I give 10 points. This author's excellent works of different categories and styles. Plain yet full of life wisdom.
Good physical book to read
Read it continuously, such as: The sound is immersive, great, like it 👍
