Cixi and Guangxu: a Game of Survival in the Chinese Court

The author of this book is American Chuck Taylor Hedland (1859-1942), whose Chinese name is He Delan. He was an American clergyman who came to China in 1888 and taught liberal arts and theology at the Huiwen Academy in Beijing, where he witnessed the entire final years of the Qing Dynasty. He stayed in China for a long time and had many contacts with the upper class.
