Is self-esteem a disease? It depends on how you define it. Based on the usual definitions by lay people and psychologists, all I can say is that it is quite possibly the worst emotional distress known to man, even worse than hating someone else. Hating others, as bad as it seems, may actually be better than self-respect.

The book mentions a magical idea to resist anxiety that has been very helpful to me - "want rather than need". For example, you may want to be recognized and liked by others, but you don't really need it! It is true that "many problems lie in evaluation and evaluation". Adopting a "non-evaluative attitude", good or bad performance, like or dislike by others, all require unconditional self-acceptance, unconditional acceptance of others and unconditional acceptance of life.
This book was a huge benefit to me and helped me better understand my emotions and behaviors. I loved the advice in the book on how to deal with anxiety and stress, it was very practical. However, I wasn't too fond of some of the examples in the book, which felt a bit dated. But overall, this is a book worth reading, especially for those who are looking for self-growth.
After reading this book, I deeply realized that we should be kind to ourselves and be kind to ourselves and others!
