This book is very interesting. The author compares his novels to lovers and prose to close friends. This metaphor makes people have a more intuitive feeling about his creation. And I can see the author's mental journey during the creative process, which makes me understand his works better. I like some of the essays about life insights in the book. They are very real and inspiring. However, the plots of some short stories are relatively simple and the characters are not fleshed out enough. But overall, this is a book worth reading.
