The Scream: A Memoir of the Massacre

This book is the candid and moving account of a boy who somehow survived after being sent to four Nazi concentration camps in succession. As he endured torment and displacement, two questions haunted him, piercing him to the core: “Why the Jews?” and “How could the world stand by and do nothing?” Even today, these questions remain difficult to answer. Manny recounts how human flesh was served as food in the camps. He was also forced to shave the hair from dead women and pull out their teeth. He hid a photograph of his beloved mother inside his wooden shoe. After enduring the horrors of Poland and the German concentration camps with his brother and father, he miraculously survived. Writing this memoir fulfilled the promise Manny made to himself on the first day he regained his freedom.
