He liked Yu Bai, but he was afraid that this truth and falsehood would one day leave him. He was with Yan Ming, but he didn't want to believe her false truth. Life is as unpredictable as a dream, so he experiences life in one drama after another.

"White Night" is Jia Pingwa's most underestimated book. It is rarely mentioned, but its character portrayal, story description and the thoughts expressed by the author are not at all inferior to other works. White is Yu Bai, and night is Yelang. They are a literary young man from a down-to-earth family, and a spiritual young man from the bottom of society. The two people would not have had any intersection, but they had feelings for each other. In the end, they could not come together because of fate and their respective personalities. After reading this book, I still feel uncomfortable, although the author uses exquisite writing to depict a real society with "potholes and mottled" everywhere, which is thought-provoking. This book is still fantasy, with a touch of magic. Perhaps, it is a kind of culture, like the ghost drama played out scene by scene in the book.

Sometimes we are like Yelang, torn between desire and reason. Moreover, the descriptions in the book are very vivid, especially the portrayal of Yelang and the Reborn Man, which made me feel like I was watching a play.
