She Wants to Be a Village Chief

A minor disaster strikes out of nowhere, and Wang Xiangcao's family is smeared with accusations they cannot clear, no matter how hard they try. With no other choice, they have her husband secretly leave the village to find work in the city. They think that will put an end to the matter, but instead they sink deeper into trouble. Just as things seem hopeless, a handsome young university student arrives in the village to teach. He brings a breath of fresh air, rekindling Wang Xiangcao's passion and giving her hope. With the young man's guidance and help, Wang Xiangcao gradually pulls herself together, and a new awareness begins to take root: She can’t go on living like this! She can’t keep putting up with this! By then, most of the village men have gone to the city for work, leaving the village rife with evil and unchecked abuse. She steps forward without hesitation, determined to defend the dignity and safety of the women left behind. She acts swiftly and decisively, defeats the forces of evil, and gradually puts justice in the ascendant. She stands up to male oppression, bold and forthright, daring to take action. With her intelligence and resourcefulness, she cleanses the village of its corruption, restores its simple customs, and leads the women who have stayed behind in planting peach trees and medicinal herbs, guiding them step by step onto the road to prosperity.
