After director after director objected to the character names and repeatedly made junior screenwriter Ding Xiaoxiao change them, she impulsively gave her own name to a disposable character who appeared only once. When she woke up, she was horrified to discover that she had transmigrated into a book: she was now the disposable character with the same name as herself in the script.
To save herself from danger, Ding Xiaoxiao decides to follow the script and help the protagonists get through this part of the story. But when the disposable character’s storyline ends, she doesn’t get to leave as she’d hoped.
As the story continues, she unexpectedly discovers that whenever she is in danger or the plot can’t move forward, a certain amount of skin-to-skin contact with the hero brings up an option to help her out of trouble.
Unable to escape the script, Ding Xiaoxiao has no choice but to grit her teeth and play out the rest of the story. She firmly believes that the hero’s death will bring the whole tale to an end. Yet as she repeatedly plots against him, one misunderstanding after another thwarts her plans. Not only does she fail, but the two gradually grow closer.
When Qu Yong is finally gravely injured, Ding Xiaoxiao holds his hand. The option she had long dreamed of appears before her eyes, but she finds herself hesitating deeply over whether Qu Yong should live or die.
