A Prelude to Love

It took everything I had just to make a little money writing songs, and then I had to sell the rights to make ends meet;

It took everything I had just to fall in love with a rich man from a humble background, only to become the other woman without meaning to;

Round and round we went, as the world changed around us.

In the end, my love was nothing more than a flimsy wedge. Just as it was about to open onto a dazzling story, it came to an abrupt end.

It's just a pity I never got the chance to tell you,

I love you...
