Scholar, I Want a Great Book. Please Take Out the One You Keep at the Bottom of the Box.
I want to read a book similar to "Jinghong".

The book describes the multi-faceted existence of a person, with both a devil side and an angel side. Faced with the dual pressure of the real environment and one's own emotions, a variety of emotional experiences arise in the heart, struggling or wandering between the spirit and the body. Find a breakthrough in art and lust, and find the truest self in the process of losing yourself and finding yourself! This is my rough understanding of this book, and I hope to discuss it with everyone!
It's well written, and the ideas resonate with me. Even though Harry wanted to die again and again, he still found ways to be optimistic and laugh. I think he built a fantasy kingdom for himself and used this fantasy to save himself, but on the other hand he longed for pain and intertwined emotions.
I was very touched after reading it. At first, I felt that the protagonist was very torn on the road to find the meaning of life, but as I read it, I felt that this seemed to be the normal state of each of our lives. The time of the story is also cleverly chosen at the transition between the old and new eras. The protagonist is an old man who has just come out of a staid middle-class circle. He is dealing with trendy young people on one side and immortal artists of the older generation on the other. There is a collision of various concepts and atmospheres. The book is half human nature, half wolf nature, half is the decadence and indulgence of the real world represented by people like Hermina, and half is the noble pursuit of the spiritual world represented by people like Goethe, half is happiness, and half is pain, all of which exist at the same time. The protagonist wants to sink in this and pursue a noble spirit, so he embarks on a life path that is as hot and raw as raw meat.
I believe that my inability to read some books must be my own fault
When people can truly experience, rather than live in their own experiences, memories, fictitious realities, or other people's expectations, meaning is created. This is where the unique value and beauty of each life lies.
The author of this book, Hesse, experienced World War I and World War II, and the book he wrote still resonates with the souls of the 21st century. One idea that shocked me is that each of us has more than one soul, but is composed of multiple souls. The protagonist of the story feels that he is composed of human nature and wolf nature. He is constantly pulled between the two souls and feels out of tune with other people in this society. Therefore, the protagonist lives in isolation, lonely but also longs to be understood, so he meets the heroine in a bar and expresses the knowledge and understanding that he has been holding back for a long time. The heroine listened patiently and pointed out a key point: the protagonist said a lot but did not ask her name. Finally, the climax of the story is when the protagonist enters a dream-like opera house. My personal understanding is to break the imprisonment between the souls of the protagonist at different times and with different personalities, allowing them to re-integrate and reorganize, rather than letting them suppress each other until they end up with a razor. People are multi-faceted, they can be lively, cheerful, lonely, gregarious, etc. Humans are social animals. Under the historical and social environment, we may not be able to break away from gregariousness, but achieving inner peace is not another possibility of suppressing oneself, but integrating various possibilities to become one's true self. The above is my personal understanding. (2024.12.19)
I like the style of this writing, simple, true, deep and tense. If it has accumulated over the years, it will be very interesting to read. He seemed to be talking all the time, but he didn't seem to say anything. He was just talking to himself, flowing with his inner feelings. Many of the descriptions are not stories, but expressions of life, times, value, meaning, sadness, and the inability to escape. There is an irreconcilable contradiction between hard work and helpless reality. But no matter what, he is still feeling himself delicately and speaking out without reservation. It's the same sentence, simple yet profound, which shows the profound skills and sensitive inner capture and precise expression. Personally, I feel that a strong philosophical atmosphere is ten thousand times better than pretentious, eye-catching, gorgeous descriptions or carefully arranged plots. You read, read, what you read is him, but what is surging is yourself. There is a big difference between reading the complete content and just reading the first part. The second half reproduces the author's multiple split personalities and the climax of depression, which is a crazy expression of inner chaos and disorder. It is difficult to fully understand from a normal person's perspective (it is best not to pursue comprehensive understanding), and it is not easy to accept if you really understand it. After reading 60% of the book, I felt a sense of disgust towards the protagonist, yes, disgust, which made it difficult to continue. The follow-up reading is therefore relatively sloppy and I don't want to delve into it further. No matter how far the textual description reaches, it cannot replace the core thing, the thing that can be felt intuitively. I also read some online reviews, all of which are similar. There are few real personal opinions and cannot be used as verification and approval for recommending this book. Would not recommend, especially to young people. Maybe it is division, destruction and reconstruction for me, but it is another thing for others.
Only a person in a unique mental state can understand the many situations in the book.
I didn't understand it, but the characters are well-developed and the dialogues are interesting, both crazy and philosophical.
Harry Haller sees through the absurdity of the world, but cannot reconcile with it. He despises worldly entertainment and builds a high wall of loneliness with his spiritual obsession, but he tastes the bitter fruit of suffocation in freedom. This contradiction is the soul's pathological obsession with meaning: when people bind their self-worth to "elegance" or "correctness", they become prisoners of another kind of shackles. His pain stems from his obsession with purity - splitting himself into two opposing halves, resisting the absurdity of the world with a sense of moral superiority, and ultimately sinking deeper into nothingness. This sense of tearing is becoming increasingly clear in contemporary times. People ridicule entertainment to death, while falling into emptiness after recreation; while flaunting spiritual independence, they fear being abandoned by the group. The soul needs to fly, but it also needs to take root in the soil of reality. Hesse's salvation is hidden in "humor": only laugh at the absurd and tolerate chaos. The real salvation is not to eliminate "wolf nature" or "humanity", but to accept the coexistence of both. People must find a balance between ideals and desires, arrogance and mediocrity. The howl of the Steppenwolf will eventually turn into a song of reconciliation with oneself. Hundreds of famous and unknown images emerge freshly from the fountain of this night of love. I learned again what I had long forgotten in my pain. They are the treasure of my life and will continue to exist indelibly. These experiences have turned into stars, and although they are forgotten, they are eternal. They are a string of legends in my life, and that shining star is the rock-solid value of my existence. My life is difficult and unfortunate, and it is hard work that makes people fall into despair and even deny life. It has tasted all the bitter salt of human destiny, but it is rich and conceited. Even in pain, I live like a king. Even though I wasted my years on the road to destruction and was full of misery, the core of my life was still noble. It's not mean, it's classy, it's not about money, it's about the stars.
Feel the struggle and redemption of humanity in "Steppenwolf". The Steppenwolf described by Hesse is a lonely, confused and contradictory soul. The protagonist Harry seems to be in the wasteland of reality and ideals, struggling between human nature and wolf nature. Harry longs to blend in with the world, but at the same time sticks to his inner purity and uniqueness. This entanglement and conflict is empathetic. The book's insight into human nature allows us to see the loneliness and longing deep in our hearts. Mark, this is a classic that needs to be read over and over again. [Three core questions] 1. Why does Steppenwolf feel lonely and divided? : Because he was unable to adapt to the hypocrisy and shallowness of modern society, the conflict between the lofty ideals he pursued and reality caused him to suffer from schizophrenia. 2. How can we find a way out of mental difficulties? : Requires self-acceptance, deep exploration of the inner world, and redefinition of the meaning of life. (If you have been anxious and confused for a long time, you need to learn to gradually accept your imperfections, re-examine your values, and find the direction of life) 3. Is Steppenwolf's dual personality universal? : To a certain extent, many people have different aspects of themselves fighting and struggling in their hearts. Content Sharing 1. "His life had at certain moments such extraordinary sparkle and beauty, his hardships and longings so meaningful and full of hope, that he was almost grateful for his time of suffering." 2. "Because I am like a firework. It is packed with gunpowder and explodes loudly. It blows itself to pieces. It is dazzling in the sky, but in an instant it disappears into nothing." 3. "Everyone's life is a journey to self, an attempt on a road, a quiet call of a trail." 4. "Eternity is just a moment, just enough to make a joke." 5. "The world is never either/or, and people are not always good or evil. There is a Steppenwolf in everyone's heart."
After reading this, a real America was born in my heart! A miserable world that is the same all over the world has been resurrected! A great feeling of compassion will last forever among different races, different worlds, and different generations! Live
I'm reminded of a saying, the most useless people when the country is in trouble are the intellectuals
To my initial impression, this didn't look like the Steppenwolf I'd begun to understand. How can a lonely person, who is lonely on the inside, rejects outsiders, arrogant and unconventional, be accepted by outsiders? How can it exist in the world for so long? Why do you fall into a dream mixed in two worlds? Perhaps, his inner world is always pursuing the meaning of life and beauty. The Steppenwolf should not be defined. It should not be lonely. Instead, it is in the wilderness and is constantly exploring in the wilderness, looking for the meaning of the wasteland and the meaning of the world. During this period, there is a lot of beauty that attracts it and accompanies it, guiding it to understand the world in many aspects. Even if the nature of the world has not changed, the original desire to survive exists more or less secretly in us. Steppenwolf has seen through the world, but he has never stopped trying to experience pain, feel the world, and breathe the delicious air in the world.
I admit that I still don't understand it, I've only read a quarter of it. The author can describe a principle, a state, and a trace of psychological fluctuations from the front to the side, from reality to fantasy, from human to steppenwolf... From different angles. I saw it in a fog, and I knew that there was a distance of several lives between an ordinary person and the author [crying].
Moreover, the symbolic meaning in the book is very profound, and I feel that I can gain new understanding every time I read it. I particularly like the character of Hermina, she is complex and unpredictable. However, the writing style of this book is a bit abstract, and reading requires some patience. Overall, highly recommended!
You need to read this book carefully, you still need to buy the physical book, and I guess it needs to be combined with the background of the times. I feel that the characters are chaotic and contradictory, as if they are trying to save themselves and yet they seem to be indulging themselves.
It smells like basement notes
I don't understand. At what age is it appropriate to read this book?
There is no plot, just narrative and discussion.
Like the title of the book, Steppenwolf, a wolf from the wilderness gets lost in the city. Contradictions formed Harrell. He was incompatible with the outside world, and completely different ideas collided and blended in him, and finally became intertwined.
I person's spiritual world
I had to read physical books intermittently in school before, but I didn't understand much [face covering] [face covering]
You and I are both Steppenwolf
It's worth watching and has depth!
The way to salvation lies within
Fantasy, desire, relief
Conflict, chaos and complexity are the only way to be a normal and abnormal human being
This book is beautifully written
I feel like I am also separated from society and marginalized by society.
