- We've all had someone of the opposite sex we liked. Whenever I think of her face, I can't help imagining how wonderful it would be to become the cat in her arms. Then I could always stay by her side and see all her different sides.
- That feeling inspired me to write this, my first novel. The basic premise is that the soul of a troubled, gloomy boy enters the body of a pet cat, and he shares an ordinary life with the girl who owns it. I tried hard to write warmer, more heartwarming scenes, but I was still too inexperienced back then and couldn't come up with many workable ideas. I completed the story entirely on impulse, following my own wishes. Although I've revised it several times since, the general plot framework has stayed true to its original vision, without any major changes.
- There are no major upheavals in this first novel, just the gentle flow of everyday life and subtle emotional ripples worth savoring.
- I have to admit, I borrowed quite a few ideas from Japanese light novels.
