At the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, Wei, Shu, and Wu divided the realm among themselves. The imperial court was eventually united under the Sima clan of the Western Jin, but the Sima dynasty was as fleeting as a flower, soon swallowed by the tides of history. The petty courts of the Southern Dynasties took its place: Song, Qi, Liang, and Chen. They too failed to gain strength, and were soon replaced by the Northern Dynasties. The story that follows takes place during the Northern Qi period of the Northern Dynasties.
This book is a bit of a torture novel. The author's writing style is very interesting and the plots of these characters are well connected, but it is too short. Some places could be more careful (u‿ฺu✿)
