I remember reading a contemporary novel. Once the male protagonist made a mistake and carefully asked the female protagonist if he would be beaten. Then the female protagonist said: Yes, he will be beaten to death. Are you afraid? The male protagonist was afraid all the way, and only when he got to the car did he say: Can you, I won't bear it if you don't beat him to death?
