The Chinese Civil War and Sino-American Relations: Marshall's Secret Report on His Mission to China

This book is Marshall's report to the U. S. State Department. Marshall's report provides a complete account of the work during the conversation. As an official material from the United States, it has reference value for studying the relationship between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party during this period and the negotiations for the peaceful founding of the country. We can see some of the true intentions of the United States at that time. I want to say that in the face of criticism from both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, who had opposing views, Marshall persisted in his mission to the end. He was heroic, but in vain. Thanks to history for bringing us deep thoughts about the future today, I recommend everyone to read this book.

As an official diary, it commented on the process at that time from the perspective of an important mediator at the time, and undoubtedly has important reference value. The United States' mediation of European countries and Japan. These countries are in a leading position in the process of modern history. They have long benefited from the advantages brought by science and technology, culture and foreign colonial expansion. They have formed a unified political and economic framework in terms of social structure and ideology. After the war, they achieved successful mediation and arrangements under the leadership of the United States.

Reading this book will greatly facilitate our understanding of Marshall's visit to China, a key event in U. S.-China relations. Friends who are interested in the changes in Sino-US relations before and after the Cold War can read this book. This book is Marshall's report to the U. S. State Department during his mission to China, arranged in chronological order. Marshall's report gave a complete account of his work during his stay in China, with detailed records of every meeting, the dialogue between the interviewers, the suggestions and counter-suggestions of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and the history of each incident. Although it only provides an "objective" description of the evolution and process of events, many places can still reveal the true intentions of the United States at that time, which is of great reference value for studying the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and Sino-US relations during the civil war.

With the publication of this publication, the record of Marshall's mission to China can be said to be complete, which greatly facilitates our understanding of this decisive event in U. S.-China relations. If one compares the material available now with that of a few years ago, it is immediately apparent that there is considerable value in lowering the level of archival confidentiality and releasing archival material. This book is a report written by Marshall to the U. S. State Department during his mission to China. It was published in the United States in 1976. Most of this report was compiled by staff of the U. S. Embassy in China when Marshall was in China. During the preparation process, each part was sent to the U. S. State Department in batches after completion. By the end of 1946, six batches, totaling thirty-one chapters, had been sent. The last three chapters and the addendum "The Chinese Communist Party's Attitude towards the United States" were completed around February 1947 after Marshall returned to Washington.

This book provides a very detailed account of Marshall's tripartite negotiations during China's mediation. Marshall believed that the country would fall into complete economic collapse before the Kuomintang government destroyed the Communist bloc, but Chiang did not believe that the country's economy would collapse so easily. Marshall was a neutral mediator between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. At that time, the United States only recognized the Kuomintang as the only legitimate government of China. The consequences of this contradiction are both symbolic and substantive. This book plays a certain role in studying Sino-US diplomacy during the civil war.

This book is of great historical value! It records many details during Marshall's mission to China, allowing us to have a clearer understanding of the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and Sino-US relations at that time. The narrative in the book is very detailed, just like watching a historical drama. I particularly enjoyed the recording of the meetings in the book, and felt like I was involved in those important decisions. Moreover, through this book, I have a deeper understanding of the characters and events of that era.
