During their first year as trainees in the production industry, Lin Xiaozhang and his three college classmates meet oil-field seismic workers who travel far and wide, and are moved by their broad hearts and bold spirit. Alongside their work, they lose and find love, faith, ideals, and a sense of responsibility. They grow through loss and take flight through what they gain. They become one with the workers and their collective. Together with the veteran workers, they sing “Songs in the Blizzard” as they strive to “dedicate oil to the motherland.”
