“Where am I?”
Li Cheng felt a sharp pain in his head. He only remembered being ambushed by a group of drug traffickers while conducting an anti-drug operation at the border. He'd been shot several times. In theory, he should have been dead by now. That was a tenth-floor fall!
But even if he were alive, he should be in a vegetative state by now. Wait, no!
“Huh? This is...” A flood of images surged into his mind. Li Cheng's already aching head felt as if it were about to split apart, but he endured the pain and accepted the images.
“Are these memories? Did I transmigrate? I'm Li Shimin now!” Li Cheng pieced together the memories that had just flooded his mind, struggled to open his eyes, and looked around, slowly coming to terms with this unbelievable truth.
Li Cheng, or rather, Li Shimin now, was lying on a bed. Cloth screens surrounded him, and if he wasn't mistaken, this was an ancient military tent. Sunlight revealed two guards standing watch at the entrance.
But this wasn't Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty. It was before the founding of the Tang, in the midst of a chaotic age. Was this my chance to make a name for myself as a transmigrator? I knew a fair amount about history in my previous life, so that ought to be useful.
So it was all real. If so, the memories that had just come to me were real too? That was bad news! Wasn't there a major battle scheduled for today? Yuwen Chengdu was leading an army of two hundred thousand against us, while I had fewer than a hundred thousand troops. This was a critical situation.
