My thoughts on reading "The Biography of Wang Yangming" on the 1.12Th are as follows: 1️⃣Really valuable ideas will not be banned by one generation of rulers. They are alive and soulful, and will last forever. During the Jiajing period of King Sejong, although the ban on Yangming studies was very strict, the lofty ideals among Wang Yangming's disciples, regardless of gains and losses, built Yangming temples everywhere to spread Yangming studies. The seeds of ideas were spread overseas. Japan and Korea still have many devout followers today. Just as Xu Jie, the chief minister of the Ming Dynasty, wrote in a letter: He was particularly outstanding in fighting against the rebellion of Chenhao in Jiangxi and pacifying the thieves in Sien, Tianzhou, Duanteng and Bazhai in Guangxi. He also has extensive knowledge of classics and history, studies psychology, advocates the teachings of conscience, and understands the origin. He is still respected by people today. People will have their own standards for measuring fallen trees, and it cannot be completely changed by one person in one place or at a time. 2️⃣In summary, although Wang Yangming established unparalleled achievements, his fate was extremely bumpy and he suffered from wandering throughout his life. This was largely due to his failure to meet a wise king and a wise minister. From being demoted to Longchang to quelling the Chenhao Rebellion, Emperor Wu Zong and his ministers, from suffering embarrassment in his hometown of Yue to sending him to pacify the Guangxi Rebellion despite knowing that he was ill. These hardships did not really knock Wang Yangming down. On the contrary, they enriched his experience and thoughts, and established his Yangming Theory of Mind. The Theory of Mind is not a castle in the air, but the product of Wang Yangming's practice. The essence of Yangming Theory is worth learning from and pondering for everyone in the modern era. From the perspective of modern society, I hope it can still emit light that transcends ancient and modern times.
