The first half can be said to be a cool novel similar to "The Count of Monte Cristo". The whole thing is a common sadistic story about falling in love and wanting to kill someone. Finally, there is an inspirational and passionate article. There are also many scenes that are popular in Internet articles, with distinct characters and flesh-and-blood characters. The gadfly suffered for half his life, lived wantonly and died heroically. Priest is just the beginning. The world will surely set off new waves.

This book is a very beautiful novel. The protagonist Niu Meng, Arthur, probably did not expect that he was the child of Archbishop Montanelli who he respected, worshiped and loved the most! Even during the suffering, he never blamed the bishop, and his reaction to the various unfortunate encounters that happened later. It really raises the aura of humanity to a very high level. Especially the meeting and conversation between the Bishop and Arthur in the cell at the end... Undoubtedly reached the climax of the book... Especially the sentence "Come back, come back! Bishop, I can't stand it anymore!" At that moment, I felt that Arthur was indeed a flesh-and-blood person. In short, whether it was language, psychological description, or scenery coordination... All gave people a shock and spiritual enjoyment... Hey, I am used to the happy endings of most novels, and this book did not expect tragedy to have such a shocking charm...

This book was the first novel I read when I was in elementary school. It happened in the 1990s. Now I have read it again. The only memories left in my childhood are fragments of their reunion. Now that I have read it, I feel infinitely regretful and heartbroken. The poor lover, the miserable archbishop, and the strong and wise gadfly.

This version has too many cuts, which makes the plot not smooth in some places. I recommend reading another version of "Gadfly (Gadfly Classic)". I only read half of it before switching to the other version.
