Field of Life and Death

Xiao Hong's "The Field of Life and Death" is one of the volumes of the "Northeast Exile Literature Historical Materials and Research Series" edited by Zhang Fugui. "Historical Materials and Research Series on Northeastern Exile Literature" is China's first large-scale book that comprehensively and systematically organizes the Northeastern exile literature and research results in modern China. It is divided into research volumes, historical materials volumes, and works volumes, with a total of 36 volumes. "The Field of Life and Death" contains a total of 14 short stories and short stories by Xiao Hong, including "The Field of Life and Death", "The Bridge", "Departure", "The Call of the Wilderness", "The Ox Cart", etc. "The Field of Life and Death" tells the story of "life" and "death" of villagers in a village near Harbin from the 1920s to the 1930s. Xiao Hong's novels have a certain autobiographical flavor. She broke the single narrative mode of traditional novels and created a marginal style between novels, prose and poetry.
