This book is divided into three volumes: Wei, Shu, and Wu. Each volume contains the biographies of prominent figures in their respective countries. There are 65 volumes in total, that is, 65 people. This book selects 23 of them, all of which are the most important figures. The structure of the book is like this. Each character has an introduction, followed by the original text, annotations, and translations divided into paragraphs. I always read the translation directly. Each person's case here is not as story-telling as in "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", but the simple narrative is enough to make people feel the protagonist's magnificent life. Moreover, there is no exaggeration of the storyline, it is not so sensational, and it has a more historical sense. I feel that if a person can read more such books (Three Kingdoms, Zizhi Tongjian, Shiji) during college, it will be of great benefit to him or her as he or she moves into society, faces human nature, and his or her own goals and desires.

"Three Kingdoms" is mainly good at narrative, and its writing style is also concise and well-cut. It was praised at the time. Xia Houzhan, who was writing the "Book of Wei" at the same time as Chen Shou, also admired "The Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms" when he saw it. He believed that there was no need to write a new history, so he actually destroyed his original work. Later generations highly praised it and believed that among the history books recording the history of the Three Kingdoms, Chen Shou's "Three Kingdoms" alone could be compared with "Historical Records", "Hanshu", etc. Therefore, other histories of the Three Kingdoms have been lost to obscurity one after another, and only the "Three Kingdoms" has been handed down to this day.

So Sun Quan met with Zhuge Liang, and the two discussed the general trend of the world. Zhuge Liang analyzed it vividly, and Sun Quan was greatly praised. Since then, Zhuge Liang has become the counselor of Soochow, and together with Zhou Yu and Pang Tong, he is known as the "Three Great Counselors of the Three Kingdoms".
