Essentials of Women's Science

"Essentials of Women's Medicine" was written by Chen Xiuyuan, a famous doctor in the Qing Dynasty. The book consists of four volumes, the first volume discusses menstrual regulation and seeds; the second volume discusses prenatal period; the third volume discusses postpartum period; and the fourth volume discusses miscellaneous diseases and surgery. The above-mentioned obstetrics and gynecology and common surgical diseases are discussed in detail in the book. "Essentials of Gynecology" explains the pathogenesis concisely and thoroughly, and the selected prescriptions are practical and can be used as a reference book for studying TCM gynecology. Chen Xiuyuan's book "Essentials of Women's Medicine" discusses and treats women's diseases, explores the roots and traces the origins, understands various schools, chooses the good ones to follow, advocates practice, and is simple and practical. Without being presumptuous, I will give a brief review as follows: Adjusting the spleen and stomach can be enjoyed by both refined and popular people. Women are based on blood, and the biochemistry of blood is in the spleen and stomach. Therefore, all the writings on women's medicine in the past dynasties have paid attention to the spleen and stomach.
