"Supplementary Materials of Compendium of Materia Medica", an ancient Chinese pharmaceutical work. Compiled by Zhao Xuemin in (1765 AD, the 30th year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty). This book was compiled more than 100 years after the publication of "Compendium of Materia Medica". Its purpose is to pick up the legacy of "Compendium of Materia Medica". The book has 10 volumes in total, containing 921 kinds of medicines, of which 716 are not included in the "Compendium of Materia Medica". Most of them are folk medicines, such as Cordyceps sinensis, gallbladder javanica, Radix Pseudostellariae, etc., As well as some exotic medicines, such as cinchona (quinoline), Japanese essential oil, vanilla, stinkgrass, etc. In addition to picking up the legacy of the "Compendium of Materia Medica", this book also supplements the unknown medicines contained in the "Compendium" and corrects the errors. The style of this book is similar to that of the "Compendium", except that human beings are not listed, and two categories, vines and flowers, are added, and the "Inscriptions and Stones" part is divided into two parts.

This "Compendium of Materia Medica" is very interesting! The author Zhao Xuemin is really great. He has made additions and corrections on the basis of "Compendium of Materia Medica". I especially like the introduction about yin and yang fire, which gave me a new understanding of fire. However, I kind of hate people who can't always tell the difference between Yang Fire and Yin Fire, haha. This book is very helpful for us to understand traditional Chinese medicine.
