Edward Burman is a renowned British author. While writing The Terracotta Warriors: Two Thousand Years, he received support and assistance from the Shaanxi Cultural Relics Bureau. Over nearly three years, Edward visited historical sites and artifacts from the Qin era and interviewed dozens of scholars of Qin history and archaeological experts, filling notebooks with interview notes. He also consulted a wide range of works on Qin history in Chinese, English, French, and other languages, including writings by eighteenth-century French Sinologists. He even had numerous archaeological reports from China translated into English and studied them carefully before beginning to write.
The book consists of three parts: Qin history, the mysteries of Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum and the Terracotta Army, and recent archaeological discoveries and research trends concerning the terracotta warriors. Drawing on a wealth of research and featuring many previously unpublished archaeological photographs, it has become a landmark work on Qin history and the Terracotta Army in recent years. The book cites more than two hundred works and articles, making it a major English-language introduction to Qin history and the Terracotta Army. The Chinese edition once again received strong support from the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau and a thorough review by the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum.
I think this book is really great! The author Edward Berman spent nearly three years visiting ancient monuments in order to write this book. This spirit is really admirable. Moreover, the content of this book is also very rich. It not only covers the history of Qin, but also the mysteries of the Mausoleum of Qin Shihuang and the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. It makes me, a person who is very interested in history, very enjoyable to read. I especially like the part about the Terracotta Warriors and Horses in the book. Seeing those unpublished archaeological photos makes me feel like I participated in the excavation process of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. I think this book is not only suitable for people who are interested in history, but also for people like me who run around the city. Reading this book is like taking a trip through time and space.
I want to know if anyone has read this book?
