The Fourteen Heroes of Qingmen

One of Zhu Louzhu's finest works. In the author's own words: Gansu Province belonged to Yongzhou according to the Tribute of Yu. It was first divided into the commanderies of Longxi and Beidi during the Qin Dynasty. In ancient times, it was the land of the Qiang and Rong peoples, and only received its present name in the Qing Dynasty. Mountains crisscross the province, with the Qilian, Xiqing, Long, and Qinling ranges the most renowned. Their peaks are generally steep and beautiful, their cliffs and ravines winding, and their forests so dense that their trees block out the sky. The mountains of the Qinling range hold even more scenic wonders. Most of these places lie far from the clamor of the world and are blessed with an enchanting beauty. The finest heroes of the martial world and recluses of the mountains either travel there to admire the scenery, or seek out secluded places to enjoy the forests and streams in peace. Yet deep mountains and vast marshes are often home to dragons and serpents. Seeking quiet has always invited upheaval, and the affairs of the world do not always go as one wishes. What is more, outstanding trees are brought down by the wind, and the renowned draw envy. The greater a person's talent and fame, the harder it is for them to find peace. A breeze begins at the water's edge, and a spark can set the plains ablaze. Often, some tiny incident brings countless troubles in its wake.
