The Unranked Magistrate

By a twist of fate, a military king transmigrates into the body of a young woodcutter in the Northern Song. By another twist of fate, he passes the imperial exam at the top of his class. The emperor jokes around and appoints him an unranked county magistrate, an official with no rank at all. It’s a lowly post, but the military king sees it differently. There are plenty of unranked officials, while the highest officials in the court are first-rank. Doesn’t that make someone unranked even higher? That means he outranks every official he meets by one! And so the military king begins his official career in the Northern Song, always one rank above whoever he meets. Good grief, there’s no way things won’t get lively. He turns the whole Song Empire upside down in no time.
