The Legend of Baoyu and the Legend of Daiyu complement each other. They are like unofficial history to official history in Dream of Red Mansions. Although they are interesting and make the whole story more full, due to the overall tone, reading it cannot help but feel sad and desolate. Wealth and glory are nothing but smoke and clouds; years and beauty will eventually turn into dust.
I particularly liked watching Baoyu go through the decline of his family. I felt that he suddenly matured a lot. But I kind of hate Aunt Zhao. She always does evil things secretly and looks down on Miaoyu. Fortunately, Miaoyu is not someone to be trifled with and will not let her bully her. Overall, this book helped me understand the characters in "A Dream of Red Mansions" better, and I recommend you read it.

Why do so few people comment? The writing and plot logic are really in line with Cao Gong's original work. I admire the two authors' amazing minds and writing style...
2024.12.25 22:04 After listening to Daiyu's biography, I came to listen to Baoyu's biography. The dead were settled once and for all, so I felt relieved, and the living had to make do with living.
The overall plot is basically in line with Cao Gong's intention. The death of Concubine Yuan was passed over casually. The plot of Baoyu becoming a monk is not surprising. It was not the original intention for Miaoyu to become unconventional. Daiyu's death was probably not due to illness. After reading it, it is a masterpiece.
It's closer to Dream of Red Mansions!
