During the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty, traitors and sycophants were in power and they judged officials based on money. After the death of the Later Tang Dynasty, Shi Jingtang was located in Luoyang and became the founder of the Later Jin Dynasty. Liu Zhiyuan established the Northern Han Dynasty after the fall of the Later Jin Dynasty. Soon Guo Wei ascended the throne again and established the Later Zhou Dynasty. In the end, Zhao Kuangyin was crowned emperor and Taizu of the Song Dynasty by his subordinates in Chenqiaoyi, ending the situation of the Five Dynasties.
