During the Ming dynasty, Xiao Buping, one of the Four Great Constables, happened upon a strange book called The Book of Thieving Heaven. It contained thirty-three stories, the first of which was about him. The story described the assassination plot he was scheming, and ended with his death. Unable to eat or sleep in peace, Xiao Buping tried to discover where the book had come from, but found nothing. Then, by chance, he noticed blank spaces at the end of every story. A sudden idea struck him: he crossed out the ending of his own story and rewrote it so that he would come back from the dead.
Incredibly, events unfolded exactly as he had revised them, and Xiao Buping was saved.
He continued reading the remaining stories. Their protagonists were all upright and honorable people, many of them old acquaintances of his. Every single one of them died in the stories.
Unable to accept such tragic endings, Xiao Buping began rewriting them. But that was exactly what the author of the book had planned.
When the thirty-three heroes gathered at the Fengdu Inn on Mount Li, when a ghastly wail echoed through the shadowy, mysterious tunnels of the Qin Emperor's Mausoleum, and when the coffin in the underground palace was slowly opened, Xiao Buping was utterly heartbroken, having lost the one he loved forever.
But he was not someone who would meekly accept his fate. He would use his own hands to rewrite his beloved's destiny once again.
This series of novels was first serialized on Ancient and Modern Legends and Martial Arts. After so many years, I didn't expect to see it on Tomato🍅. The author's writing style is very good and the content is in-depth. It's really fascinating. It's a pity that I didn't finish it.
