Sima Yi Conquers the Three Kingdoms (Complete Collection) (Novel) (5-Volume Set)
In 246 AD, late at night, a scout reported in secret: "Sima Yi, who returned to his hometown to recuperate, really has taken a new favorite concubine. He spends his days lost in wine and women, and his first wife made a huge scene when she found out. The old man didn't listen. Instead, he yelled at her, 'It's bad enough that you're ugly, but now you have to come out and embarrass yourself!' These past few days, his wife and sons have even been trying to force his hand by refusing to eat."
Cao Shuang looked doubtful. "Investigate further! I refuse to believe that old fox has really given up and retired."
On the ninth day of the twelfth month of 248 AD, grief hung over the Sima residence, and the air was thick with the smell of medicine. Sima Yi lay on his sickbed, his face sallow and drool running from the corner of his mouth. He couldn't even swallow a mouthful of porridge. A government official could barely contain his delight as he rushed into Cao Shuang's residence. "General, wonderful news! Sima Yi has only one breath left. He won't last more than a few days!"
On the sixth day of the first month of 249 AD, Emperor Cao Fang of Wei and his Cao clan relatives headed to Gaopingling to perform the sacrificial rites. Suddenly, a horse galloped toward them. Its rider rolled off and urgently reported, "General, Sima Yi has led troops into the imperial palace and taken the Empress Dowager hostage. He's coming this way!"
Ten thousand horses thundered forward, yellow sand filled the sky, and the white-haired general at their head was none other than Sima Yi, who had supposedly been "barely clinging to life"...
The plot of this book is so exciting! The author Li Haobai portrayed the character of Sima Yi very vividly, making me feel like I was seeing a real historical figure. I especially like Sima Yi's political and military strategies. His wisdom and decisiveness are admirable. Moreover, the historical background and social features of the Three Kingdoms period are also described in detail in the book, which gave me a deeper understanding of that era. Overall, this is a good book worth reading and recommended to friends who like historical novels!
