At eleven, she hid her feminine identity to take her younger brother’s place. A frail young man with a long sword, she was sent to guard the northern frontier.
At seventeen, she braved life and death alongside a prince, cutting through every obstacle. As the eldest son of the Tang family, she was the heir to a line of loyal ministers.
At twenty, the birthday gift she received was an imperial decree: The Tang family of the Chancellor’s residence had deceived the emperor and committed treason. The entire household was to be taken into custody.
She had offered up her sword, the northern frontier, and the Great Zhao, along with everything she thought best and believed belonged to the emperor.
But Tang Qian didn’t understand why the prince, once eccentric and willful, had grown mature and steady. After claiming the realm, why had the emperor stripped her of her military command, then pressed her step by step until the Tang family was nearly doomed beyond salvation?
Tang Qian assumed the emperor feared her achievements might eclipse his own, and that she was destined to repeat the fate of the Prince of Zhenling. She had trodden carefully at every turn, surrendered her power of her own accord, and retired from court. Though she was now almost entirely without office or rank, she still couldn’t avert disaster for the Tang family.
Only after kneeling to receive that decree did she finally understand: the emperor had done all this simply to force Tang Qian to offer herself.

Everyone said that the Changning Marquis Tang clan had helped the new emperor ascend the throne and now enjoyed unrivaled favor and glory throughout Great Zhao.
Yet everyone around the Seventh Prince knew that although the emperor could forgive former political enemies and their followers for changing sides, he could not bear to see Tang Qian so much as glance at anyone else. The prince’s harsh treatment of the Changning Marquis baffled nearly everyone.
You were born breathtakingly beautiful, yet your family’s troubles kept you from wearing a skirt for even a single day. But today, in a fiery red gown that dazzled every eye, you knelt humbly before him, only to hear him say:
“Want me to spare the Tang family? Then please me, Tang Qian. Use a woman’s charms.”

The heroine is loyal and straightforward, while the hero is scheming and haughty. They should have been a match made in heaven, a perfect emperor-and-subject pairing, but the people around them are one and all troublemakers. First a princess makes things difficult at every turn, then a consort stirs up trouble, and at the border there’s a menace eyeing the heroine. The hero can only fend for himself and hope to win her over soon. They have to go through life-and-death trials, misunderstandings and suspicion, then share honor and disgrace before they can move toward a happy ending, right?
I didn't like torture at first, but I read it quickly 😂 It's a good career line, but this book still has more emotional lines. It's pretty good. The ending is good, it would be better if there is a sequel
It's very good to read, but there are gaps between chapters and some content is missing, but I still finished reading it. The content in this book is compact and plotted, and every part is a climax. It is very beautiful. Of course, it would be more perfect if the content was complete.
