The Shen family has held the hereditary title of Duke of the Southern Chu Kingdom for generations. Shen Yuan inherited the title as its fourth duke. His first wife gave birth to their legitimate son, Shen Yanping, and daughter, Shen Yanzhao, before she passed away. Shen Yuan then married Lady Luo, who became his second wife, and had the two children adopted into her household. Shen Yanzhao was timid and submissive from childhood, suffering constant abuse at the hands of Shen Yuan's favored concubine, Lady Song. Lady Song had no children of her own, so she brought her niece, Song Xun, into the Shen residence and adopted her as her daughter, giving her the Shen surname. After Shen Yanzhao married into the Heir Apparent's household, Lady Song schemed to make it look as if Shen Yanzhao had lost her virtue, causing the Heir Apparent of Prince Rui to distance himself from her. Shen Xun was determined to rise to power, and later joined forces with the Heir Apparent of Prince Rui, Pei Qian, Shen Yanzhao's husband, to bring down the Duke's residence. Shen Yanzhao died with hatred in her heart at Shen Xun's hands, then was reborn. In her new life, Shen Yanzhao is consumed by vengeance and determined to make Lady Song and Shen Xun die horrible deaths. She will reclaim everything that belongs to her, taking careful steps at every turn.
Other novels at least gave me the desire to read them at the beginning, but this book didn't interest me at all. No wonder there were no reviews even if I wanted to read it. The heroine and her father were stupid as hell!
