The night was as dark as ink, and rain poured in sheets.
She clutched her suitcase, watching him shelter the breathtakingly beautiful woman under his umbrella as they slowly entered the home that had once been hers.
“Was there ever a single moment when you felt even the slightest bit of affection for me?”
She asked stubbornly, but received no answer.
Later, through a twist of fate, they became husband and wife in every sense of the words.
Unable to resist his relentless persuasion and pressure, she fell into a marriage where she could never tell warmth from coldness.
She thought they could go on like this, until a maliciously fabricated attempted-murder charge backed her into a corner.
“Lu Jingchen, I’m telling you I didn’t do it. Do you believe me?”
She looked into his eyes, cold as a frozen pool, and knew the answer.
Sheer cliffs, crashing waves.
“Are you going to send me for skin grafts, Young Master Lu, or send me to prison?” The sea breeze blew her hair loose. Her gaze was calm as she let out a soft laugh. “I’m sorry, but even though I’m as insignificant as an ant now, I still won’t do what you say. Even if I have to die, I won’t die at your hands.”
She leaped, and all her longing ended.
That fleeting glimpse from long ago, unforgettable at first sight; that longing etched into her heart, that tender affection. In the end, it had all been nothing but a joke.
Regardless of whether the writing is good or bad, I should give the author five stars. The male protagonist is indeed a scumbag. He forgives too quickly. I just want to torture the male protagonist again. Although the story is short, it has all the internal organs. Keep up the hard work.
Very well written, give it a thumbs up!
Fortunately, it's not too cruel.
