In a town named for slaughter, twelve assassins bear names drawn from Tang Dynasty legends: Prefect Nanke, Pei Hang, Wang Xianke, Ren Shi, Huo Xiaoyu, Xie Xiao’e, Kunlun Slave, Young Master Xingyang, Hongniang, Liu Yi, Hongxian, and Nie Yinniang. They are the twelve “Legends” whom their master spent ten years raising. Each has a fan-shaped tattoo somewhere on their body, visible only when brought to life by the Legend’s own blood. The twelve tattoos depict twelve different, gruesome deaths. Their master seems to take pleasure in changing the Legends’ endings, and traces of the master appear to be left at every scene where the twelve Legends slaughter their opponents. In this bloody game, who are the pawns, and who is moving them? Until the very end, no one can see through to the conclusion.
