In China, there is a saying: in the south, Maoshan Taoism; in the north, the spirit mediums who invite the immortals to possess them. The southern Maos refer to Maoshan Taoism, while the northern Ma refer to the spirit families described in this book.
Some say spirit-medium rituals are a scam. I say that while there are frauds, not everyone is one. This business is murky and full of hidden depths, and plenty of people fish in troubled waters, but I’m not one of them.
Some might ask, “Who are you?”
I’m just a humble disciple, carrying on the incense lineage passed down by my ancestors.
The spirit troops in the main hall cultivate themselves deep in the mountains. Once they emerge from their ancient caves, their names will resound across the land.
I’m only recording some of their amusing stories, to satisfy their eager desire for fame.
As I write, my family’s spirit lord is pleased. He takes his seat, possesses me, and starts talking:
“Listen closely, everyone.
If you ask whether my family is here, it is.
If you ask my name,
I’m no nameless, insignificant soldier.
I light a lamp on the high mountain, and my name shines bright.
I plant flowers in the sea, and they take root.
Before the city lies my Chaoyang Cave,
Behind the mountain, my Beiyin Ridge.
I hone my skills at the Gathering Immortals Pavilion!
I neither boast nor change my name,
My ancestral lands span a thousand cities. I am the eldest fox of the Fox Clan, born of the Fox Clan.
My glorious name and title: Hu Family’s Heaven-Splitting Tyrant, striking fear into all!”
This is somewhat similar to the Northeastern Supernatural Files. I don't know what happens next
The front part is good, but the back part has a three-body feeling...
Very well written, exciting and humorous
