The Little Country Doctor's Consort

Folklore claimed that the bewitching demon empress brought disaster upon her ruler. At last, Meng Changning, said to be the greatest physician and poison expert under heaven, was executed by the emperor. Everyone rejoiced! But no one expected Meng Changning to be reborn as Lin Changge, a country girl saddled with an eccentric family. Her mother was weak and helpless, and her younger brother was chronically ill, leaving her with little standing at home. Determined to escape this life, Lin Changge returned to her old trade and set out to build a fortune. But she was so poor she couldn't even afford medicinal herbs. Wiping away a bitter tear, Lin Changge embarked on the long road to raising money. She would make money, dish out face-slapping, and deal with oddballs, while earning a fortune through perfumery. A charming, aloof young man lived at the entrance to the village. He was rich, handsome, and might even become an official, with girls falling for him left and right. Lin Changge, ever the money-grubber, proposed, “How about I fend off your admirers while making money selling your calligraphy and paintings?” They struck a deal!
