The protagonist, Lu Yu, is just an ordinary child from a mountain village in the Tianyu Mountains of the Qin Kingdom. One day, while traveling to the Xianxia Sect to seek a master, he sees a golden object fall from the sky. Curiosity gets the better of him, and he goes to investigate. It is a golden coffin carved with a five-clawed golden dragon. The moment he reaches out to touch it, the coffin vanishes into thin air. After waiting in vain, Lu Yu has no choice but to leave and continue on his way, arriving just in time for the Xianxia Sect's once-every-five-years recruitment of disciples. During the trials, Lu Yu's resolute mind, aided by a mysterious power, allows him to pass the tests with ease and become an outer disciple of the Xianxia Sect. After joining the sect and making friends, the golden coffin appears again, revealing the objects inside. Lu Yu picks up a black bead and keeps it. When he practices the Xianxia Art, the bead trembles faintly. Astonished, Lu Yu hurries back to his room to investigate. After circulating his energy through several cycles, the black bead finally absorbs enough spiritual energy, and its spirit, Moran, appears. Seeing that Lu Yu has only average aptitude but a resolute mind, Moran gives him the Exorcism Pearl and takes him as a disciple. Lu Yu diligently studies the Seventy-Two Exorcism Swords. After searching the mountains for treasure, he finally breaks through to the Xuan Zhao stage, then rises to prominence in the sect's tournament and becomes a personal disciple. He tames the Heaven-Devouring Python and the Exorcism Dragon Spirit, inherits the legacy of the Life Gate, and ventures into the demon race's sacred ground. He obtains the Heavenly Demon Pill, tempers his body with heavenly lightning, battles ancient demon beasts, and wins the Ancient Heavenly Sound Zither. When the qilin appears, a thousand-sword spirit-devouring formation is unleashed. The Soul-Wounding Melody destroys the inner demons and restores his true nature. A giant sword in his dantian transforms into a Nascent Soul. He sweeps through the Battle of Ten Thousand Sects, then reaches the pinnacle, dominating every direction and becoming a king and a god.
