She was only an ordinary farm girl, yet Bao Mingde, son of the Marquis of Bao, bought her, claiming that only she could save the marquis and the people of Bao. To save her gravely ill mother, she accepted being bought and sold at another’s whim. Renamed Bao Si, she was presented to King You of Zhou. She hated everyone who passed her around like an object. But at the moment her life hung in the balance, he appeared. As they lay dying, the two of them swore they would never part again in their next lives.
To keep that promise, she refused to drink Granny Meng’s soup. She endured a thousand years in the rushing waters of the Wangchuan River beneath the Bridge of Helplessness, until at last she got the chance to find him. Carrying the memories of her past life, she was reborn as a princess of the Han dynasty, yet she still could not escape being sent away like an object. She was dispatched to the Xiongnu in a political marriage. No matter how hard she tried, she could not tell whether the people around her were his reincarnations. This, it turned out, was the punishment for refusing Granny Meng’s soup: she would never be able to find the one she loved.
Back in the underworld once more, this time she chose to accept the cycle of reincarnation and drink Granny Meng’s soup before being reborn. Will she and he meet again in this life? Amid the endless mortal world, where will her heart finally belong?
I like (ง •̀_•́)ง! I have written a short story before with the eternal "sinful" beauty as the heroine, but I haven't finished it yet. When I saw your article yesterday, I thought it was similar to my previous thoughts. It was really good after reading it! The story is just too short😬
This novel is quite good. The princes are played by beacon fire, and Zhaojun goes out of the fortress. The author's understanding of history is acceptable. The ending can actually be continued. It is not very exciting. Overall, I personally like this novel.
