The Undying Demon Monk

I was once a monk, so how did I become a demon? Heaven and earth are without mercy, and all living things are but straw dogs. When the urge to kill rises, I slaughter gods and demons throughout the heavens. If I must contend with Heaven, then I shall remain undying through the ages.

I have watched the mortal world through a hundred lifetimes of reincarnation. Looking back, the Dao has come to nothing...

Heaven and earth may change in countless ways, but the human heart remains the same through the ages. Once the world’s splendor has been sifted away, all that remains is the heart settled within one’s chest. Even if the vast world withers, what lives in my heart will never perish.

What endures is the will, not the body; the state of mind, not the Dao; the conviction, not the cultivation.
