Listening to the Wind

A servant said, “In a couple of days, it'll be time to go back to the countryside for the ancestral rites. I wonder if the master will take the first madam with him.”

“That's right. I heard the first madam is almost due. Of all the times, why did it have to happen now?”

“I don't think the first madam will go. How could she endure such a long, exhausting journey in her condition? If anything were to happen, heaven forbid! Bodhisattva, please protect her. Please keep the first madam safe and sound.”
